Would it be a good idea to put a smoking section in movie theatres?

I'm old enough (Sadly) to remember the days when people could smoke in movie theaters. The smoke, oddly enough, didn't realize that it was supposed to stay in the smoking section, and instead drifted all over. There's no reason to go back to those days. If you need a cig, go out and smoke, and miss the film.

Would it be a good idea to put a smoking section in movie theatres?ballet

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it be a good idea to put a smoking section in movie theatres?globe theater opera theater

NO
Absolutely not. Unless they are enclosed in glass and the other people in the theater can't inhale their smoke. Maybe at a drive-in.
No, you would still be able to smell the smoke. They would have to have special theaters completely separate for smoking.
I'd say no too.
i think that it is not a good idea to have a smoking section in the movie theater beacuse there are a lot of kids that go to the movies.
No, I don't think so. The wat I see it, there is no such thing as a "smoking section". A movie theater is one big building with big rooms. The smoke would effect everyone, not just the person smoking. The same thing with resturants. One big space. The smoke goes into the air all over the building, not just in the one area where the cigarette or cigar was smoked. I don't know about other people, but if movie theaters smelled like smoke, it would make the experience of seeing a movie in a theater much less enjoyable, as smoke really bothers me. Good question, though.
No. I'm a smoker but if I can't go a couple of hours without a cigarette that really is my problem, not everyone elses.

Besides, with home theater sales burgeoning and movie theater ticket sales dropping, it wouldn't be worth the money it would cost to add special ventilation systems (and even then some of the smoke would still get to the non smokers).
No.You would still be able to smell the smoke.
Ummm.... let me think about that. NO!!!! Smoking is disgusting, why do you think it is being banned everywhere even in bars now???
yes. years ago I worked at a theater where there was smoking and non smoking. I think that those who get up and move and miss the movie to smoke makes me nutty
People used to be able to smoke in theatres and in restaraunts.!!! It would not be a good idea to add a smoking section at this point in anti-smoking culture. I stay home and am able to watch DVD's and VHS tapes. Net Flix is great!!!
NO! I would never go to the movies again.

Having a smoking "section" is like having a "peeing section" in a swimming pool.

If you can't go 90 minutes without a smoke, you are in danger of imminent death. You are wayyy more likely to have a heart attack or stroke, and other health problems. You probably stink within 10 feet of you. Your hair, fingers, clothes all smell like a bar.

Quit today. Even if you gain 20 lbs, it is not as unhealthy as smoking. And you won't.

I don't go to any restaurant that has a smoking section. I don't go to bars anymore for that very reason. I don't go to bingo or any casinos if there is smoking.

Only about 26% of US population still smoke. You are in the VAST minority and you are fast becoming a dinosaur. You know what happened to THEM!
No.

You couldn't contain the smoke...

The smoke would waft across the projection creating shadows on the screen.

Smoking should never, ever be allowed in theatres.

Is there a valid reason why people aren鈥檛 allowed to bring their own food to movie theatres?

I mean, I do it anyway, but grocery stores, video stores, drugstores, etc. don鈥檛 have signs saying that you can鈥檛 bring in outside food. Is it just because they want to sell you overpriced concessions?

Is there a valid reason why people aren鈥檛 allowed to bring their own food to movie theatres?sheet music

Of course-- if everyone brought food from outside, then no one would pay $8 for a bag of popcorn, and $5 for a glass of coke.

Is there a valid reason why people aren鈥檛 allowed to bring their own food to movie theatres?state theatre opera theater

you got it... they do not make their money on the tickets
Selling overpriced concessions is how most movie theaters make their money.
some theaters where I live let in outside food.

and yes, it is to sell what they have.
Yep that's pretty much it, think about it....who in his or her right mind would pay five bucks for pop corn and four bucks for a drink? if people were allowed to bring food they would run out of business
Obviously they want to have a profit selling you overpriced junk!
yeah, i think it's for the money mainly ... although, cinemas don't sell foil wrapped products 'cos of the rustling in the bag!!! there's nothing worse than having someone behind you who is digging their hand in to a bag of doritos every 2 seconds!!!
To answer your question, yes there is a valid reason. Those theatres, etc., make their money from the concessions not from the movies shown.
yes, they want a monopoly on their outrageous prices at the counter, and their prices are ridicious! its about an 100 % profit and i sneak stuff in too!
Yes, its because of the concessions. Movie theatres, suprisingly, don't hardly make anything from the actual movie sales. Almost all of that goes to the movie production company and the distributors. So almost all of the theatre's revenue comes from the sale of concessions. Weird, huh?
Yep. That is mostly the reason. The other reason is that they are worried that people will bring in foods that may offend other movie goers or the will bring full meals and make too much noise with packaging and then there are the health regulations to make sure someone doesn't try to sue them for "contamination" or food poisoning. If you have food already for sale and you do by chance have someone claim they are "sick" from eating at your theater, it will be easier to isolate and prove it was the theater and not their own food.
Exactly! I was just on a cruise to Mexico and they said to only buy from the American stores. Obviously they were self-promoting......
they want you to spend your money on their 10 dollar movie and 6 dollar hot dog 7 dollar pop corn and 6 dollar box of candy. oh and 3 dollars for a bottled water

and then u can have fun inbetween the movie
A drive-in sounds good.
Definitly at home...its so much better. You can talk about the movie if you want, its cheaper, and you can make your own snacks and make it fun.
Well home with a friend and a DVD...but a drive-in...not too many of those around anymore ...it has been at least 15 yrs...so maybe the drive-in......
I was going to say Drive-in, and then I saw that you typed it. I go there almost every week in the summer.

Can someone tell me when The Seeker (The Dark is rising) will be in NZ movie theatres?

It's probably not going to. The movie is already out on DVD.

That's a really, really bad film, so don't be disappointed if you don't get to see it.

When you are trying to squeeze in a tight area (movie theater) is it more polite to...?

Is it more polite to pass the person with your butt in their face or your crotch?

When you are trying to squeeze in a tight area (movie theater) is it more polite to...?ms stress

I've wondered that myself.

If I'm feeling generous, I pass them with my bubble-butt to their face ;)

I don't know which is more polite, but I always point my crotch away from their face. I don't want some dude checking out my junk!

I usually sit on the outside, so it doesn't matter...

When someone wants in, I just get up and let them in...

KFC is wrong period.
yes
heck no. That was good thinking.
Its only wrong if you get caught.
nope. as long as you don't get caught! I sneak in food all the time..
It was wrong of you to buy that nasty azz bowl in the first place!
Yes!~ Movie popcorn is better than KFC any day, yum yum! lol
No way, I've done that tons of times...it's really easy to do in the winter.
Nope that is a great idea not for the theater but for you
Thats a good Idea...but wont work I guess. They want to run their side-business as well....I hate that rip-off though..

Now they wont even let you take even your cell phone...at least in my area....I was not impressed at all......
I actually can't wait till lunch so I can have one. Of course you were in the right for doing this. Popcorn pales in greatness to the awesomness of KFC bowl.
No it wasn't.
no way jose!

KFC %26gt; $15 popcorn
Not if you are protesting the high prices, but you were probably in violation of the theaters no food or drink from the outside.
there ain't nothing wrong with that! Although i usually sneak in drinks... hehe.
cheap a...s....s
As long as the KFC bowl enjoys the movie.
if they don't know you bought it in.... we have a theatre here that dosen't care either way, that's cool.

I would stick to foods that don't stink up the place though, no strong odours
as long as it fit in your date's purse... not a prob... a bargain's a bargain...
I do it all the time. Movie snacks are much too expensive these days.

Sometimes I even pop my own corn and take it with me and I always take my own bottled water.
Yes, you are cutting in to my profits
nope perfectly understandable! just keep it hidden or everyone will want some.
Thanks! I just spewed coffee all over my screen!! That was funny.

How would you sneak one of those in?
You were simply being frugal. Why waste $15 for popcorn you can pop yourself? Although the movie theater may not agree with what you did, but I do. And so does everyone else, probably.
Nothing wrong that! I'd do the same. Who the hell would pay so much for freaking popcorn anyway?!
No.The prices at the movie are absolutly ridiculous. Also, some people dont like popcorn and candy, they would rather have their own snack (like you did). But they already get paid alot to screen the movie then from us buying 8 dollar tickets. So I would not feel bad at all
I would. I hate paying the prices just for popcorn and drinks at the flippin' movie theater.
how on earth did you sneak a KFC bowl into the theater? They should have given you free popcorn just for that :P

I always sneak food into the theaters - it probably isn't "right" but it's the only way we can all afford to go. *Shrugs* Lesser of two evils?
they charge $4.50 for a small water so no, it's not wrong. But you'll have to hide it someway, because I'm pretty sure they wont let you in w/ outside food

U gotta see if she's pretty first

so then yall could just chill
Watch the movie and perhaps lunch/dinner afterwards
First go for the old romantic thing... Bring her flowers and stuff like that. Buy her the ticket and buy her popcorn and candy. It'll give her the best first impression and please don't do that yawning thing that guys usually end up doing. Just ask her like a good boy, Like say is it okay if I put my arm around you? or something like that and may be she''ll like it... Just try it...
this is what i have to say ok im 14 and im a girl so you should just try to get to now her and just talk to her and staff and see were that takes you !

It depends which position you are working at. If cashier they will ask if you can give change. Simple stuff. Or if you get along well with others.
Usually employers ask questions like "why do you want to work here? What experience or skills do you bring to this job? Why should we hire you? What hours/days are you available? Would you be willing to work weekends, holidays, and evenings?, etc..." Those are some questions you should be prepared to answer.

Try not to be nervous, and answer the questions as honestly as you can, and you'll be fine. Good Luck.
dress nicely, look your interviewer in the eye when you speak (this shows confidence) speak clearly in complete sentences (this shows maturity and intelligence) greet your interviewer with a firm hand-shake, while looking them in the eye. Introduce yourself and keep your ears open. don't be over anxious to land this job. good luck!

Many libraries will have lots of material on what you want on vedio tapes there was government grant number of years ago, so see if this resource is still available. How you present yourself is biggest question: Hair well keep, fingernails trimmed clean neat clothes and shoes. if you have nice interviewer they start by asking how you are, and ask you to tell short summary of your life. Tell us about( your name) What experience do you have; Why do you want to work here? Tell us why we should hire you. As question given and style given you see a lot depend on personality of interviewer. If you can put together entry level resume this will help both of you.

Have parent or friend ask you questions and practice to help with jitters, but don't over pratice and come off as phoney.
well first off you are going to be working at a movie theater so ask yourself what they might be looking for in a person for that position.

Some ideas.

Dresses nicely(not a suite and tie mind you)

Speaks clearly

Clean Shaven

Good haircut

Has a good attitude.

For now this is all you should concern yourself with.
I wouldn't worry about it. Its not like you're getting a real job.

home video created on a pc to the reels used to project images on a big screen. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Is there any way to transfer a home film I've created to the kind of reel-form video used in movie theatres?greek theater

first, lets clarify what you're trying to do.

a movie theater screen that shows videos will use basically the same set-up that you have at home. they typically show DVDs. And converting VHS to a DVD is simple.

you can burn a DVD from your pc (depending on your pc cd/dvd drive).

But it sounds like you want to go from a video format (NTSC) to a 16mm or 35mm print. Not all theaters can show 16mm prints. (Most film festivals can.)

yes, there is a way to convert your video to 35mm print, but it's a bit complicated. here's why.

NTSC video runs at 30 frames per second. 35 mm film prints

run at 24 frames per second. when you convert film to video, you typically repeat a couple of frames to prevent the speed of the picture to look like it was shot in fast motion.

to do the inverse, you will need to take frames out.

To do this, you need to configure your editing software so it knows what your final output will be. NTSC is U.S video. PAL is Europe's video format. You'll want to tell your software to create your film for a 35mm/16mm format - or 24 frames per second.

This is easy to do in Final Cut software. But I don't know what software you're using.

before you do this, get some info on what theater you plan on projecting this on. as mentioned earlier, many theaters and film festivals can accommodate video. converting video to film sometimes looks bad (unless you run some filters to adjust picture quality) - so you're not gaining anything by going to a print.

Plus, you'll need to pay a post production house to transfer the images which can be expensive.

Two places that can do that are: EFilm in LA and Digital Image in Burbank

it costs about $650 per minute.

see this article for more info.

hope this helps.

The movies that are out right now are Enchanted, Hitman, The Mist, This Christmas, Beowulf, Fred Claus, American Gangster, and the Bee Movie. I really don't think that the Bee Movie is for 14 year old girls, and you might not think Enchanted is either. I would reccomend Beowulf or The Mist.

There is a second version to the new Halloween movie?

I watched the newest Halloween movie in the theatre and then went to www.watchtvsitcoms.com to see if it was available. It was there so I decided to watch the movie again in the comfort of my home. To my suprise the vesion that is online is different from the version in theatres. The online version looks to be a directors cut and I can tell you, its a lot more graphic than the theatrical release! There are sequences in this version that are missing from the theatrical relaease. If you watched this movie in theatres and want to see the R rated version go to www.watchtvsitcoms.com and click on the movies tab, then scrool down a bit till you see the halloween poster, click on it and enjoy, its FREE and there is NO SIGN UPS at al.

It seems like you already answered your own question. Is this just an ad for your free movie download site?

I'm sure there will be a directors unrated cut of the film released to dvd soon enough. Then you won't have to download it, and you will get the bonus features, commentary, and decent picture and sound you can't get online.

Personally, I'd rather watch a movie on a big screen with decent sound than on my tiny computer through the crappy speakers. But that's just me.
i agree with the person above me the online version is better than the theater version because it just seems as though it fits better with the movie and the halloween series and surprisingly it shows pretty good

depends on what it is. i love comedies, so i'll go see it.

if its passion of the christ or whatever, HECK no.
***** give a shite
what is controversial?
I only see it if I want to see it, and I want to see it, if it looks like a good movie.

Ex. Borat, I want to see it, I don't give a care how controversial it is.
i illegaly download it asap, cuz im a cheap cheap basturd who enjoys movies, annie r u ok r u ok, im a smooth criminal
option 1
I wait till it comes out on DVD so I can watch it and if I like I buy it, its too expensive to go to movies these days, and plus I do not have time to go to the theaters any more with kids that act up every single day!
depends on what it is. i have never seen brokeback mountian and dont plan on it either, im not gonna see capote either. theyve been out for awwhile. so i guess i dont care if i know what its about anyway.
I dont care too much about movies these days as really, they typically are not that good.

Mostly if I want to see a movie, I'll wait for the DVD because my new plasma TV bigscreen and theatre IS AWESOME and I dont have to deal with other people at the movies.

I'd have to want to see a movie REALLY bad to go to the movies.

I dont care too much about controversy created by movies, because they are just movies.
It would depend on the controversy. Sometimes I may not want to see the movie even when it is released on DVD. I usually have my own oppinion about the subject matter and make my decisions if the movie is even worth the rental price. Like all of the Micheal Moore movies! Total crap!
I go see movies that look good to me. I don't really care how much controversy is surrounding it because I don't really think that people in the U.S. (where I am) are all that bright. I think the things in movies (nudity, violence, language, subject matter) that people tend to freak out about are just a part of the movie and should be judged personally, not by what the moron majority thinks. If a movie is good or bad, to me, it's not because it's too violent or too taboo a subject. It's because it's either a good or a bad movie in my opinion.

I prefer to think for myself.

I would suggest everyone else do the same....

enjoy the ride,

T
I don't care. If it looks like it would be a good movie i'll just wait for it to come out on dvd. It would be nice to see them in the theatres but it is hard to find some one to watch my five kids so I can take my wife out.
depends on the movie, if its something thats like stupid funny i tend to avoid it until my friends force me to watch it. Otherwise it's whatever strikes me as good that i'll watch.
dont care

I only go see a movie if I like the story or the actors in it

controversial films are usually incredibly boring or/and political ones and I cant stand them types :D
Wait for the DVD.

I hardly ever go out to a movie theater - our son can not stay home by himself, and hiring a baby sitter adds too much to the cost. So when I go to the movies, it is to a movie our son wants to see, and we might do that four or five times a year.

The last time I made a special effort to go out and see a movie that I wanted to see for myself was Fahrenheit 9/11.

What's the most annoying thing you could do in a movie theater?star theater opera theater

have your phone go off in the middle of an intense scene, I threw a soda at a guys head for that a few weeks ago
Either extended cell phone call (hate that).

or

Bringing your child who's way too young to the movie and hearing this dialogue.

Why did they do that Daddy?

Not now sweetie.

Daddy is he hurt?
If the person in front of me keeps talking or getting up to go out for some reason.........that is annoying!
snore,in an annoyingly gross manner.

d.
I hear about these things the obvious

would be text messenging the text messenging luminates in the dark

yacking on a cell phone

don't these people know they are suppose to be turned off
fart..chew your candy to loud...slurp your pop instead of drinking it..people who put ther feet up on the seat in front..couples who try and sneak a feel or two...and the worst of all...people talk about the ending of the movie...to bad i dont carry a ray gun...beam me up apollo
Break wind and keep going to the concession stand....
a couple of things and maybe one of them that i'd pretend i haven't seen the movie yet and i'll ask a friend to watch it with me. then on the movie house i'll tell him/her what would happen in the movie. i'd tell the story of the movie and so on...for my friend and for those who will hear me talk that would definitely annoy them. teehee!
Remember the Rocky Horror PIcture Show and how everyone dressed up as the characters and spoke the dialogue all through the movie and did actions and danced in the aisles to the songs?

Well, do that in EVERY movie! Just match your outfit and dialogue to whatever movie you are watching, whether it's James Bond or the Bourne Supremacy or some crappy romantic comedy with Richard Gere.

If there's no songs, just dance along whenever they play incidental music during the movie - you can even do it during the advertisements and previews.
Use a cell phone and not politely leave the theatre.

Have a young child that continues to talk loud scream or cry during the movie

Use one of those laser pointers that really puts you off when your watching.

Those are some of the most annoying things that you can come accross in a theatre. i think so anyway.
Smoking in the theatre would be annoying as it is inviting the law officer in my country.

Anybody whos seen a movie in theatres lately?

What is your favorite movie out in theatres?

What was is the best film out in theatres right now? Why do you like it? What film do want to see that's "coming soon"?

PLEASE, no spoilers on the movie plots.

What is your favorite movie out in theatres?performing arts show

sweeney todd, because the story was awesome and it had blood and gore.I REALLY want to see "27 dresses"

What is your favorite movie out in theatres?opera cd opera theater

My favorite movie out in theaters right now is probably The Golden Compass. I thought that the movie was okay, but ut's my favorite because I read the book and I really liked it, so it was interesting to see the differences and similarities between the two.
I just saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets and enjoyed it. It's not deep, the history in it is crap, some of the plot points are ludicrous, but darned if that movie isn't fun. It was just over 2 hours and didn't feel long at all. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one too.

Edit...I'd have to agree...I saw the preview for 27 Dresses and it looks like it's going to be really good.
in theaters now: The Golden Compass--great fantasy, action scenes, messages

coming soon: Sweeny Todd--Johnny Depp!
i love the martian child. just saw it today, its wonderful. the extra bonus is that john cusacks in it, yum.
Sweeny Todd or I Am Legend and when it comes out 27 Dresses.
I saw I Am Legend and I REALLY liked it a lot.

I also want to see 27 Dresses. I love James Marsden and Katherine Hiegl.
I want to see the new Treasure Hunters movie because I like light adventure and it should be fun to watch. I also want to see the movie with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts because just about everything that Tom Hanks does is good and Julia Roberts always does a good performance. I just picked up a cheapie DVD of Manchurian Candidate and that was really good. I would now like to see the original movie. Plus I just finished a Dean Koontz novel much about the same thing-mind control. I saw Something I Lost in the Fire with Benicio del Toro and Hallie Berry and that was very interesting and sad but it's for an older audience. Other than these, I haven't seen a good movie at a theater in quite a while.
Enchanted does it for me, followed by "National Treasure 2"
I AM LEGEND!
National Treasure
Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married"

What's the best movie in theatres out right now?

I am probably going to take my dad to the movies tomorrow and want to see something we will both enjoy. Nothing too long or boring, What a "GREAT" movie out right now and can you tell me a little about it? Thanks!!

I think your dad would like The Departed with Matt Damon, Leo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, and a bunch more, a ganster movie like scarface, godfather, etc.

The Grudge 2....Scary!
Gridiron Gang
i heard the grudge was really good if u like scary movies
step-up it was so good!
The Grudge 2...............:)
Employee of the Month - has a few laughs
Employee of the Month is one of the most hilarious movies I've seen in awhile. Plus Dane Cook is in this movie, which makes the movie even better! I'd recommend this one.
Man of the year, employee of the month and Jackass 2 are the best movies I have seen recently.
the

grudge

2

(:
thats an easy one, alex rider stormbreaker, i read the book and its the best book ive ever read, u should look into it.
Man of the Year
Jackass 2 is hilarious if you are in to that type of stuff.
snake in the plane... thing so cus i watch the movie... then i dunno!!! ask the others !!!!
I've been hearing great things about "Little Miss Sunshine" from all of my friends...who are very different from each other. Makes me feel like this movie would appeal to just about everyone. Enjoy the movie! :)
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE!!! lolz no but employee of the month is supposed to be good check it out at imdb.com
the grudge two was prety cool scary only because my friend was scarying me -.- lol but it was good

and the departed was good too!

:D
The Departed. Martin Scorsese is easily the greatest living director, the movie has a star-studded cast and a compelling story.
pirates of the caribbean:dead mans chest

johnny depp is SEXY in that movie
Jackass 2
If you are both into scary movies, then Grudge 2 or Saw 3 is good.

For a good laugh, School For Scoundels or Employee of the Month.
It depends on what type of movie you want to see, and also what your dad likes.

If you are into a scary movie, the grudge two is good.

My friends dad loves the movie "The Wicker Man", so there is another option, and i hope you find the right movie! :)
The Guardian, and I think both of you will enjoy it.
I Agree With Candace! The Guardian Was Good!!!
The Departed is a clear choice for best film so far this year. It was acted brilliantly with a great plot and character development that would make any film buff go crazy. It just had the whole package. Even with it being a remake it was still amazing. My second choice would be Little Miss Sunshine which had a perfect cast and was absolutely hilarious. I wouldn't suggest listening to anyone who has said The Grudge 2, TCM: The Beginning, Employee Of The Month, The Guardian etc.

Yes it's illegal. Besides getting viruses into your computer, technically you are receiving stolen property and you could also face charges of theft itself, along with copyright infringement.

Why not just wait until they come out on video and rent them. It's cheaper than losing your computer and paying all the fines..or jail time if you have a long history.

Can u watch an r rated movie at the theatres without and adult and ur under 18 if they buy ur ticket?hollywood theater opera theater

no. they won't let you in.

you could probably sneak past the person punching tickets, but that's about it
usually once the adult buys they tickets no one questions you going into the theater. they just say you cant purchase the tickets without an adult, not that you had to watch with one. so i say yes.
ive done it. i think it depends on where you go and who helps you and how strict they are. and sometimes if they movie is going to be a really rated r one, they id at the door. id have the adult buy after you find out if they id at the door. or sneek in : )
My mom would always buy tickets to R-Rates movies for me (without telling the person they were for a minor) and it worked fine. If it was a particularly gory movie, sometimes they would card people going in. They never carded me though.

So, if they're not carding people going into the actual theater, you should be fine.

Blades of Glory was a hilarious, mindless comedy. Go see it if you just want to have fun, it won't make you think!
Well, it sorta depends on what you like. I saw The Last Mimzy, and Meet the Robinsons, and liked them.

I am not 6.

Blades of Glory is really good also.
Blades of Glory was hysterical, and The Reaping looks like it'll be a good creepy movie.
I saw The Shooter with Mark Wahlberg on Wed. I thought it was alot of fun. Good action, cool stunts, a very pretty girl (Kare Mara) what else could you want in a movie?
Blades of Glory
i haven't seen it, but the hoax is supposed to be very good.
Grindhouse is real good! So is The Reaping but its better!!!
Hello

I'm 14, so as a silly little teenager i would recommend going to see Premonition, starring Sandra Bullock.

Maybe i'mn just paranoid, but i was jumping at the tiniest flick on the screen, and by the end of the movie, i was sure my week was going to end up just like the main character.

Premonition came out quite a while ago but i definatley recommend it. Some funny, scary, exciting, confusing and romantic bits in the movie. Its got a bit of eveything.

Hope i helped!
I saw Reign Over Me with Adam Sandler...it was a really good drama about a man who's life fell apart after he lost his family in the 9/11 attacks. I highly recommend this if you like dramas.

Who thinks they should make a Family Guy cartoon movie for theatres?

I love Family Guy and think if the Simpsons have a movie they should make one for the Family Guy. The Simpsons are funny but Family Guy though quite a bit more vulgar is 10 times funnier. Who else feels this way?

Who thinks they should make a Family Guy cartoon movie for theatres?chinese theater

Right here! Family Guy is the funniest show I know! I've always thought they should make a movie for the theaters. The,"Untold Story of Stewie," wasn't really a movie, it was just an extra hour of Family Guy. It would be so hilarious!!!!!!!!

You'll be happy to know that there have been talks of such a project. It would have to rated R of course... but I would be there opening day!

family guy is hilarious they probably will eventually if simpsons does good!
Not me.

The Simpsons has already sold its soul by becoming a carbon copy of Family Guy, a show that was originally a carbon copy of the Simpsons.

Why do many tv movies, as well as many theatre movies have annoying music at crucial times?

Why is swearing so prevelent in present day movies, and in place of a good story line? Also didnt fully realize, until recently, that this is true with many of the older films. Is it because the film writers are so narrow minded that they cannot think up a worthwhile script?

Why do many tv movies, as well as many theatre movies have annoying music at crucial times?star theater

Right on all counts!!

I know just what you mean about the music, sometimes in a real tense and scary scene the music gets so loud.

Often I think silence is more effective.

As to the swearing I think that is just the norm today.

You hear it everywhere and from people you would least expect.

Why do many tv movies, as well as many theatre movies have annoying music at crucial times?extension opera theater

Because they want to reflect the realities of life. The movies is just a reflection of what is happening around us.
The music is for dramatic effect. As for the swearing, well, with the dumbing down of the general populace, the writers felt they needed to write the movies on a level the average Joe Blow would understand. I'm just thankful they aren't being written in Spanish or Ebonics.
I want to hug you for saying this. I HATE THE GOD-AWFUL MUSIC. I also hate the "boob shot".....for no apparent reason. Don't get me started.....
Once the writer sells the script to a Producer, the writer, in most cases, gives up any Creative Editing Process that will take place. If the train derails do you blame the Architect that desinged and wrote the track or the Engineer thatis driving the train. Its the same thing.

In someof the modern movies, some Writers have either requested or been given Creative Influence and Editing Rights. Not many, but some.

Dont blame the writer for what the Public wants to pay for. It is a business, I sell a script or a storyline, I make $, then whoever bought it has to get you to pay $25 to watch it. If that takes big breasts and curse words, well thats what it takes.

The Director says Action! the Producer says How Much? the Writer is working on another story.

If you dont like it, dont watch it, Hollywood has not gotten one cent from me in the past 20 years, and I have not accepted one penny from them. Its a good deal.

How much are two amc theatre movies tickets for 440pm for two students?

That depends on the particular theatre, as well as the day of the week. The more popular theatres are a bit more expensive, and the less-popular theatres are less expensive. (That's how then try to attract you to the less-popular theatre.)

Try either www.movietickets.com or www.fandango.com. Give them your zip code, and they will show you a list of theatres. If the one you want is not available online, go to the other site. (Loews had a contract with fandango.com, so the former Loews theatres still use that site, while the pre-merger AMC theatres use movietickets.com.) When find your theatre with online ticketing, click on the showing you want to see, and it will tell you ticket prices.

Theatre to DVD?

How long does it take for a movie in theatres to hit DVD?

Theatre to DVD?theater seating

It depends on how the DVD is marketed. I usually estimate between 4 and 6 months unless there is a specific reason for the DVD to be released sonner or later.

Theatre to DVD?lyric opera opera theater

fngrt
20-39 days
Too long ---- in Europe it is 3 鈥?4 months.

Why can't they start at the same time ?

I mean: When the movie comes to the Big Screen,

why can't we have it on DVD at the same time ! Because

some people do not like going to the movie-theaters,

or they have no time, because they are working in the late shift...

Aaron.

Do you really have to sleep with producers and directors in order to get parts in theatre, movies or

Yes...and if you're a cute guy..you have to sleep with me too.

Do you really have to sleep with producers and directors in order to get parts in theatre, movies or TV?theatre tickets

No, that probably won't even do it.

Do you really have to sleep with producers and directors in order to get parts in theatre, movies or TV?opera house opera theater

nayeah
no you don't have to for all parts (just some)

;)
I used to be an actress as a teenager.

no you don't have to sleep with them in order to get parts, unless it's a really cheap film. hollywood does have it's share of please pardon this next phrase, "Trailer Trash". Which is the minority.

In fact there is a strict proccess. When someone from a TV show or Movie calls the Agency they already have a face in mind. The Agency pulls every model, actress and so on that could possibly fit that face (Personality, Look, ect...)

When you are chosen, which hundreds of people are. You get a call....at the actual audition....

first you go before a line of Casting Directors, It's like being on Idol. They determine if you can be the part they want, by your performance, reading the script, ect...

If you get called back, usually within a couple of days.

You will go before the producers and directors. Out of a hundred people in the first line-up, only 10 may get called back.

The director and producers talk and chose their favorite.

If you're it, then that great. If not, don't take it too hard. For 100 NO's there is 1 YES!!!

What you are refering to is called, "Cast and Couch". Which used to happen quite frequently, especially before SAG started! Almost all SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) projects have less than .5percent of "Cast and Couches". If a SAG project gets reported for, Cast And Couch. They can actully lose their SAG membership which is a huge loss to most Directors, Producers and so on. Because that would mean that can't hire SAG affilated Entertainers. So if you were counting on Julia Roberts to take your movie to new heights, YOU CAN FORGET IT!!!

If you've had 1 speaking role or 3 extra roles you qualify for SAG.

The downside is, when you join SAG you can ONLY do SAG certified projects and movies. So some actors don't want to become SAG. However they do provide other incentives that are quite appeasing.
Heard that some actresses did that to gain fame more quickly. There are so many good and attractive actresses in the world and I think some will do that to attract the attention of producers. However, I believe most of the producers and directors look more for quality instead of women who are desperate for fame and money.
It helps. Apparently Clark Gable did.

Be warned, people assume it's only MALE Directors %26amp; Producers that use the casting couch.
If you're actually considering that, than you're not auditioning for the right people.

For crying out loud, it all depends on your talent-people are more professional than that.
no
I dont think it is so at this day and age. Used to be but think of the suits that could come about.
i dunno but i have heard they do
Probably back in the heydey of Hollywood.
no
Well, its upto the Director/ producer, they mighy blackmail you that if you dont sleep wit em, you wont get a part! I know someone hu has went thru that.

But you should have more pride, sleeping wit someone to get a part, isn't always wise.
no, all you do is an audition and if you are good to their standards you will get a part.
i don`t really know
NO. IF YOU WANT RESPECT THE RIGHT WAY . BUT THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF B MOVIE STARS DOING IT AND EVEN SHARON STONE HAS ADMITTED TO DOING IT. HOLLYWOOD CAN BE A REAL SEEDY BUSINESS IF YOU AREN'T CAREFUL AND SO MANY WANNABE'S GET SUCKED INTO PORN OR CINIMAX FILMS . BEST BE CAREFUL.
If you don't have talent then sleeping with producers and directors isn't going to get you anything except an std or pregnancy.
no not at all
Of course. It's obvious!!!!!!!!
Some sluts do. R U a slut. would you do that to yourself just for a STUPID PART!
no if you have talents or else
yes
Not unless you are Sharon Stone

Good places to hang out at with a girl? Other than movie theater or restaurant.?

Believe it or not - take her bowling! Its fun because its active - yet you can still talk and get to know her. Its relaxed and playful - plus - if you are lucky - she will ask for some bowling help - and then you can cozy up next to her for a minute.

Good places to hang out at with a girl? Other than movie theater or restaurant.?hollywood theater

Beaches, public park, hiking trails, library, or just go for a walk.

Good places to hang out at with a girl? Other than movie theater or restaurant.?opera.com opera theater

Mall
gay bar
bed
mall, sporting events
take her to the waterfront / park while the sun is setting

wait till it gets dark and watch the stars while you talk.
The park is a place for lovers, there you will find nature, love and freshness, peace and peace is what you need :)
skatting!
Bowling, Ice Skating, Skiing, of course it's still summer, so maybe Go Carting, or put put golf, or a baseball game.
Museums, parks, go bowling, recreational games (ie, bicycling, rollerblading, row boating/paddleboating, paintball, lazer tag) amusment parks.
Museums if she is into that. You can fake knowledge easily by sneak reading the little cards, then repeat what you read, then say "Look, see. It's even on the card"

lol

Or go to a pool house and get a table for 2.
collage or any institute coz there is no other place where u ll find so many gal at a time to hang out
You could take her to a museum, to the park, to the beach, to the mall, to a theme park, go fishing, go for a walk or go for a long drive to a city you have both wanted to go to, to a waterfall, sports games, if you know what she likes take her to those kinds of things.
Pack a picnic lunch and surprise her! Go on a bike ride together. Rollerblade, go on a hike, go to a park, hang with other friends, ice cream shop, zoo, mesuem, go to a sports event! Hope you have a good time together!
Find out what here interests are and take it from there, a girl always enjoys it when you pay extra special attention to her and what her interests are.... It shows that she really does mean something to you and that you are willing to learn and spend time in everything that is important to her....
Go the a park like an area where you guys can sit, talk, be silly make her laugh. Maybe even by the swings. Or if you live near a lake/ocean go for a walk with her buy some ice cream or ices. rent a paddle boat.....

Or take her out for a simple dinner at a nice diner nothing too expensive NOT MCDONALDS!!
your best bet is a friends house where there will be people but not too many because that can be overwhelming. You guys can play beer pong or play poker, if anybody plays music you can jam. It's light hearted, fun and no obligation. It gets you to talking between yourselves and friends. But most importantly- IF IT IS YOUR FRIENDS HOUSE AND NOT THE GIRLS DO NOT IGNORE HER AND MAKE HER FEEL WEIRD AND UNWANTED. talk to her to, use your balls that's what their there for but don't be an *** and hang all over her or act like your better because your with your boys. Then it will be fun for both of you, then if you two want a moment together then you can leave and go somewhere.
Take a walk in a park in the sunset the lay under the stars at night. Go to a pool or beach. Your house, alone, or her's, also alone.. This kind of depends on where you live, but a boat or canoe ride. A bowling alley. The mall. Your sibling's, or cousin's,etc. sport game. And anywhere you have fun and a girl would too. The library. Hicking trail. Skatiing, sleding, skiing, snowboarding,. Go-carting, golfing, or an arcade. An icecream shop. A party, a picnic, an amusment park. A museum, fishing, a long drive to a city she might like. a bike ride, zoo, hang with other friends.A icecream shop, your city or state historical landmark, a boardwalk, or a bookstore (books-a-million recomended it has a coffe shop where you can sit), a coffe shop. Have fun!!!
Are you near a beach? An amuesment park? Or both? I live in California (am 33) and just went on the best and most memorable first dates ever: To Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We rode on the rides, played games, walked the beach and people watched. Had a lot of fun.

Another thing is maybe an arcade or amusement center with mini golf, maybe bowling, rollar skating, ice skating. If you're outdoor types maybe a lake, swimming, hiking. If you're really into her and like her, take her to one of your favorite spots in your area. That's what I did with my boyfriend (the one that I had the best 1st date with) and we shared our first kiss there. Another good date I had with someone was at a book store. We walked in and the first question he asked me was "When you go to a bookstore, where is the first place you go?" Made me use my brain, which was nice. We walked trouhg all sorts of sections, looking at books, talking about them, the movie %26amp; music areas, then got coffee.

This is an urban myth. There haven't been any reported cases of this actually happening.

First of all, the HIV virus can not survive outside of the body for more than a few moments. It would be next to impossible to get enough infected blood on a needle to allow the virus to survive long enough to infect someone in this manner.

Second, AIDS is not the virus. AIDS is a condition in which ones t-cell count falls below 200, usually as the result of prolonged infection with the HIV virus.

How Many times...movie question...?

I was wondering who else has seen a movie more then once in a theatre?

what movie was it?

if it went back into the theatres for a week would you go see it again?

I went to see Lord of the Rings: Return of the King 4 times...and if it were to go back into the theatres for one day even I would go see it again lol. I would also go see Titanic again...that one i saw once in the theatres but that is on my list of movies to go see if it ever came back out again.

thanks for the answers in advance! =)

How Many times...movie question...?opera mini

I went to see Titantic 3 or 4 times. Also I went and saw Romeo %26amp; Juliet twice. And Knocked Up twice and laughed until I cried both times. I own all 3 but I would probably go see Titantic again in theatres because it was awesome on the big screen.

How Many times...movie question...?passions soap opera opera theater

Juno - twice (yes)

Titanic - three (yes)

American Gangster - twice (no)

Coach Carter - twice (yes)

Hide and Seek - twice (no)

Cool Runnings - twice (yes!)
I usually see movies more than once when I go see them with different people. Thus:

Wild Wild West (three times)

Star Wars Episode I (twice)

The Ladykillers (twice)

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban (twice)

Star Wars Episode III (three times)

Spider-Man 3 (twice)

I guess that about covers it, and no I wouldn't necessarily go see them if they came out again, but then again I wouldn't necessarily not go see them, it all depends.
There Will Be Blood (3 times, love it)

All Lord of the Rings (saw each one twice with various friends, good)

The Perfect Storm(2 times, great film)
Jurassic Park 3 times

Titanic 2 times ( brother made me go again )

First LotR 4 times

I am Legend 2 times

rerelease of star wars movies 2 times each

i would never see them in the theater again unles released years later and for a reason worth it

depends upon where you live. some places, you have to be 15 to get a work permit, then you can work in the theaters. others it is as low as 14.
I think it depends on where you live and that theaters policy, but around here its 16 years old.
In NY state you can work at a movie theater at 16 or at 15 if you get working papers . You can get information about them from your guidance counselor.

Why don't people clap in movie theaters?

On Sunday the 13th, I saw Pan's Labyrinth in San Francisco and was floored by it's sheer brilliance and beauty. I had figured that the rest of the audience enjoyed the film as well, because I could hear them laugh when I laughed, gasp when I gasped and cheered when I cheered. But then, as the credits rolled, I began clapping and soon realized I was the only one doing so!

This has happened before. I've seen plenty of great movie in theatres, and with one exception, I have never heard the applause of a grateful audience. They only time I have ever had a chance to be a part of this type of event was during the premiere of Revenge of the Sith, when the all the movie patrons gave a standing round of applause.

Are these people lazy? Apathetic? Do movies only get cheered on at premeirs? What's the deal here?

Why don't people clap in movie theaters?opera singer

The main reason is of course that the performers, directors, producers and technicians at most screenings cannot hear your applause. If the audience thought that they could, no doubt that they would, just as they would at any live performance. After all, applause is meant as live feedback to the performers who are in this case, not there.

There are exceptions to this of course. At screenings at film festivals and film openings where people who had something to do with the show are present, the audience is given to applaud enthusiastically - when deserved because they know that there is an audience for their applause. Perhaps even to influence judges. This might also be the case at a test or pre-screening of a film where the audience knows in advance that they will be asked to fill out an evaluation of the film.

I attended a few of these in Chicago, and the audience, knowing that someone who cared about the films was there, then did show their appreciation by applauding.

But in most cases, film audiences are trying to keep a socialization of not verbally reacting to what is happening on the screen other than laughter or screams.

There has been an increase in audience calling out and verbal response to the dialog on the screen that some audience members have found very irritating over the last few years, so much so that this may have caused a sense of inhibition about responding too much at the end of the film.

The other factor is that in some films there is a legitimate question of when the film is over since many films place outtakes, bloopers and other bits during the credits. This can also hush an audience not sure at first what to expect.

Also, as audiences have become more sophisticated, more people read the credits and want to know more about the production, who played what, where the film was shot etc. This may dull applause response for all but the most thrilling features.

"Sith" for example was a great film, but had nowhere near the same impact on the same audience as the first Star Wars film. Those special effects may look simplistic today, but at the time the film was released, the look, sound and music behind them was so far advanced beyond anything seen before that audiences jumped to their feet and roared. We just could not help ourselves.

Perhaps the standard for films and applause has been impacted by such great moments ever since.

Finally, such things as applause are a matter of culture. Our culture today is very individualistic. We do many things, including watching films as individuals, often at home, alone. So when we do see a film in the movie theater, the habits of home viewing may take over and/or the inhibition that may come from being surrounded by strangers may be too strange for many.

Oddly, I think it is more likely that a group of 5-7 friends watching at home to applaud a great film than a group of 70 in a movie house. Oh, I think that audience size plays a roll too. A huge audience adds excitement to an event. Watching a film with 300-400 people may add a catalyst leading more likely to applause than 30.

Hope this adds some insight - but the main thing is, I think, no one from the cast or crew is there to hear it. The day they put in audience reaction meters that build an overall internet rating for films as measured by applause is the day that will change.

You hear movie phone?

Why don't people clap in movie theaters?amc theater opera theater

i dont know but that wasnt the case when i saw jennifer hudson singing in "dreamgirls."
I've only seen people do that on very few occasions....one of them being Revenge of the Sith, like you said. I don't know. Could be because nobody's there to hear them. Also people today are just too critical of everything. They will pick out and exploit every negative thing they can find. It's "cool" to be negative most of the time.
When I saw Saving Private Ryan in addition to Nick Cage's movie about 9/11 the audienct did clap. It seems that clapping is more pronounced when it is a patriotic movie rather than entertaining movie. Don't know why, but that's my perception.
the actors cant hear u clapping
They don't clap because the performers cant hear them clapping.
Most people applauded at an event where there is a chance that the film makers, actors, etc. might be there to actually hear it. Other wise they would just be clapping for themselves. Which is ok if you are in to that :)
I think the crowd and timing is a factor... best chance to get the crowds that are really hyped up for and will get into a movie are the 1st shows (sneak preview promotions, first show at midnight, etc) and on the evening of the first day of release.

I've been to a few movies that have gotten applause at the end of the show, and even during the movie. Let's see, what specific ones "recently"... at the conclusion to the first fight scene between Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, that fight got a huge round of applause from the audience (yes, this was opening night). During the end credits sequence of Kill Bill v 2, the crowd cheered and applauded their favorite characters- Hitori Hanzo got the biggest reaction. When I went to see Return of the King, the crowd did the same thing as the credits went with the artist drawings of the characters (Boromir got lots of love from the crowd).

That's why I always try and go to the midnight shows and opening night... I want to be at a show where the crowd is into it as I am.
i think it's because why would you clap for as screen? it's not like at a play the actors cant hear you
i have been to a couple of movies where the audience clapped, I can't remember which movies though....

Halloween movie?

I loved it.....It was a remake of the first one...

Very jumpy and scary. Some good blood and guts scene's.

Overall I enjoyed it a lot
a lot of gore, but once you seen gore its nothing new. but i did not really like Rob could have done something better than a remake.

I cant wait to see SAW IV

i saw national treasure:book of secrets, AWESOME
No Country for Old Men- Best thing I've seen in a couple months- not the typical good vs. evil were all used to. Terrible ending but the everything else rocked about it.

Cant remember name of movie?

There was a movie in theatres I think last year. It's about these people who wake up in a warehouse (that is atleast what it looks like) and don't remember what happened. And they're all being held against their will. But one of them is really the person who is doing it all. And they all have to figure it out. Sorry I know it's vague, but I really want to see this movie. It's basically an R rated thriller I'm assuming.

Unfortunately, you just described several horror movies that came out last year (some direct to DVD) - all of which are variations on SAW.

i think your talking about Saw 2..

-Jigsaw locks a few unlucky people in a booby trapped shelter and they must find a way out before they inhale too much of a lethal nerve gas and die. But they must watch out, for the traps Jigsaw has set in the shelter lead to death also.

Thats the only one i can think of.. hope this helps.
SAW II
Is it a Saw movie, Saw3 and they are being tortured, I think thats what you're talking about.
It sounds like several movies. A couple that come to mind are Saw 2 and Mindhunters. Mindhunters is an older movie (2003, maybe?) about FBI profilers, starring Val Kilmer and Christian Slater.
